PolyGon is a pressure-rate modelling software facility for:

  • Pressure Transient Analysis
  • Rate Transient Analysis
  • Numerical Pressure Modelling
  • Pressure Deconvolution
  • Pressure Interference Decomposition

It provides the facility for uploading, processing, simulating and fitting of pressure and rate data with various geological and production scenarios.

The Purpose

PolyGon is a software tool for interpretation of:

  • wellbore pressure response to the flow rate variation in the same well or offset wells
  • production rate and formation pressure response to the bottom hole pressure variation in the same well or offset wells
  • multiwell system

Operating Platform

PolyGon is implemented as web-application and can be accessed through local office network or Internet connection from the majority of computer devices and OS, supporting popular web-browsers.

Remote Server

The application components are carefully balanced between the user device and remote server, installed on a powerful multicore workstation where most of the processing, modeling, recognition and fitting work is performed. This allows users to access their personal data in secure format from anywhere in the world and run heavy-duty data processing with slim devices, including the tablets.

PolyGon Data Security

The user data is stored in encoded format and secured against fails through the cloud mirroring. The connecon between Client devise and remote server is using secured protocols and data encoding

Fluid Properties

PolyGon supports wide range of Black-Oil and water correlations for: Density, Formation Volume Factor, Gas/Oil Rao, Bubble Point pressure, Viscosity, Heat Capacity, Thermal Conductivity.

  • provides non-linear fitting facility to extend the application of BO correlations * provides global fitting of all fluid samples and all fluid properties with a button click * supports non-isothermal modelling

Relative Permeabilities

PolyGon supports 3-phase relative permeabilities based on Stone I, Stone II and Baker models and Correy functions for 2-phase relative permeabilities.

Well Sketch

PolyGon supports wide variety of well designs to simulate the pressure responses at the actual location of the gauge using popular multi-phase flow correlations and actual well trajectory. Pump model includes the switch between constant rate and constant boom hole pressure regimes.

Map Facility

PolyGon provides facility to build a 2D model for each layer, including the formation top, thickness, permeability, porosity, formation compressibility, fluid saturation, wells locations and trajectories, faults and boundaries.

PolyGon implements advanced methods of detrending of pressure and rate variation based on the correlation with production history which is a key element of multi-well pressure interference analysis.

Pressure Pulse-Code Test

PolyGon provides interpretation facility for pressure interference test featuring a fitting facility for pressure response to the rate variation in the offset well. This facility includes a powerful detrending mechanism which can recognize the response to flow rate variation of a given well and exclude the influence of the other wells.

Multi-well Deconvolution

PolyGon provides the deconvolution facility to reconstruct the long-term unit-rate pressure response from the long-term pressure-rate history. There are several popular options, including the Shroeter and Levitan methodologies.

Diffusion Models

PolyGon supports a wide variety of diffusion models:

  • Wellbore Storage: constant, variable
  • Well: vertical, limited entry, slanted, fractured, horizontal
  • Reservoir: homogeneous, dual porosity, dual layer, radial composite, linear composite
  • Boundaries: Infinite, closed, faults

Mulphase diffusion is covered by linear 3-phase Perrine and more advanced non-linear 3phase pseudo-pressure/pseudo-me approach.

Slope-based Analysis

Conventional slope-based analysis provides manual assessment of basic diffusion parameters:

  • wellbore storage
  • skin factor
  • permeability
  • boundary type
  • distance to a boundary

Mul-Rate Step-Response

PolyGon provides interpretation facility for multi-rate step-response test which is normally used when shutting down the well is not technically or economically viable (flow noise response).
