Productivity Logging (PROLOG)
A tool within the PolyGon software suite for separate layer analysis in multilayer wells.
PROLOG is a tool within the PolyGon software suite for analyzing the performance of individual layers under commingled production. It determines the contribution of each layer to total well flow rate, pinpoints the causes of production decline, and justifies targeted well interventions to restore and increase production.
PROLOG processes production logging data and bottomhole pressure curves, separates the contributions of the individual layers, and builds a digital model of well performance.
The tool automatically determines the key parameters of each layer:
- oil, water and total liquid flow rate
- water cut
- current reservoir pressure
- productivity index
- effective producing thickness
- permeability
- skin factor
From these results, PROLOG calculates the potential well flow rate at a given bottomhole pressure and identifies the intervals that limit production.
It also estimates water inflow from aquifers through a non-sealed behind-casing annulus, where present. The calculation uses temperature modeling.
PROLOG is used to diagnose the causes of production decline in multilayer wells and to select effective measures for raising production: hydraulic fracturing, near-wellbore treatment, water shutoff, elimination of behind-casing crossflow, and tuning of pressure-maintenance systems. The results feed targeted operational planning and improve field-development efficiency.
